VoiceObjects Desktop for Eclipse & Developer Edition

Current status

Desktop for Eclipse (DfE) is based on the Eclipse project. As of now there is no 64bit version of Eclipse available. Thus a native 64bit installation is not possible.
An installation of DfE with using an 64bit JDK (which is already on the machine) will also fail as Eclipse cannot be run on a 64bit JDK.

Resolution

It is possible to install DfE on a 64 bit system. But only if all components of DfE are 32bit.
To reach this download the current VoiceObjects Desktop for Eclipse or Developer Edition and run the installer.
Make sure that you choose to use the Eclipse version and the Java JDK delivered with the installer.
This will end in a complete 32bit VoiceObjects DfE which works on your 64bit operating system.

VoiceObjects Server

Current Status

The installer will work on 64bit systems. The de-installation will not work if the JDK provided to VoiceObjects is 64bit - the installer/uninstaller needs a 32bit JDK to function properly. The installer brings its own 32bit JDK, but the uninstaller relies on the JDK which is given during the installation process - and thus fails when the JDK provided during the installation process is 64bit.

Resolution

Install 64bit

It is recommended to get in contact with Voxeo Support anyway when installing a 64bit version of VoiceObjects!

Therefore the easiest installation will be from a ZIP file which can be provided from Support.
This means that you will need to change all settings manually as described in the Administration Guide of the Online Help.
The 64 bit JDK and a Jetty/Tomcat need to be on the machine before VoiceObjects can be installed.
Or you install VoiceObjects with the default installer and just refrain from using the uninstaller to remove VoiceObjects. As of VoiceObjects 9.1 there are only files and folder created from the installer - and these can be manually removed.

Note that in both cases the memory assignment needs to be discussed with Voxeo Support!

Install 32bit

Just run the installer and choose to install the delivered Web Application Server (best: Jetty) and the delivered 32bit JDK on your 64bit system.
