About Voxeo Licenses

Contents

Most of the software products offered by Voxeo requires a license, such as:

Prophecy Prism VoiceObjects

Even some 3rd party applications require Licensing through us such as: Loquendo and Nuance

This topic describes Voxeo licenses, where to find them, and how to troubleshoot general license issues.

What does my License do for me?

Each license file is unique to your specific system and provides the ability to run the Voxeo services that you paid for.

Your license file is your key

For Prophecy, your free two-port development and testing license is valid for up to two concurrent calls.

When you are ready to offer your application publicly in a Production environment, you must contact Voxeo Support or Sales to obtain and pay for Prophecy licensing.

After the finances are settled, you will receive a license.xml file to apply to your Prophecy installation. The license is version and computer specific, meaning that the license is only valid for the version of Prophecy you are currently using, for example, Prophecy 10 or 11, and only for use on the computer you identify.

For more information, see: Prophecy Licenses, Registration, and Ports

Where is my license?

Licenses are stored in various locations, and can also vary by operating system. This section describes how to locate the license files by software product and operating system.

  • Prophecy:
Windows:

Prophecy Install Directory\config\license.xml, for example, C:\Program Files\Voxeo\Prophecy\config\license.xml

Linux and OS X:

Prophecy Install Directory/config/license.xml, for example, .../opt/voxeo/prophecy/config/license.xml

  • VoiceObjects:

The location of VoiceObject license is in the database itself and you can follow this tutorial on how to access that ---> VoiceObjects Licensing Tutorial

  • Prism:

The location of the Prism license file is similar to Prophecy's location:

Windows:

Prism Install Directory\conf\license.xml, for example, C:\Program Files\Voxeo\Prism\conf\license.xml

Linux and OS X:

Prism Install Directory/conf/license.xml, for example, .../opt/voxeo/prism/conf/license.xml

  • Nuance (ASR and TTS):

Nuance license files are not specific to any directory but one simply points the license manager at where the license file is stored.

In Nuance License Manager, in the Path to the license file as shown in the following illustration.

  • Loquendo (ASR and TTS):

The license is the file is provided to you by Voxeo Support, and is not like the other license files as this is a one-time license and is not checked constantly.

Windows: This is an .exe file that is given to you and you then run it to apply the license.

Linux: This is a bash script given to you and once you run it from terminal, the license is applied.

What can cause my License to stop working?

An invalid license can stop calls, services, and cause unpredictable system malfunctions. So what could cause a working license to become invalid?

  • Major hardware changes to the server
  • Uninstall and re-install/upgrade of the software
  • Change in MAC address
  • Expiration dates (normal expiration)
  • Upgrades to new major versions
  • Invalid system clock settings

A quick review of your logs will often point to an invalid license file entry in these cases, one would simply contact Voxeo Support for assistance.

How do I get a License or move to another server?

To get a new license, move a license from one server to another, or to split up the ports inside one license among other servers, you will have to contact Voxeo Support and provide:

  • Current license file
  • Details of the server moving from and to, including the existing license.xml file of the new server if Prophecy.
  • MAC address old and new, for Nuance licenses

For Loquendo, you will run License Manager to obtain and apply license details ---> Generate_License.zip

For more information about Prophecy licenses, see Prophecy Licenses, Registration, and Ports
